We are offering for your consideration Vol. 70 No.1 Journal of the Lancaster, County Historical Society. It covers the history of Brewing in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This 100 page piece of brewing history covers a great deal of historic information and photos of the following breweries, Jacob Lemans Brew House along Mifflin St. Henry Frank Brewery, 214-230 South Lime St. Whacker Eagle Brewery on West Walnut St. Sprenger Excelsior Brewery on South Lime St. Haefner Empire Brewery on Locust St. Rieker Star Brewery, Columbia Brewery on South 4th St. Bube Brewery in Mt. Joy, and the B. Frederick Loercher Brewery on Gramby St. in Manheim. Many of the photos are from the 1800's.The book contains some great reproductions of lithographs, of the inside operation of the Rieker Brewery, as well as reprints of ledgers & photos as well as some brief Biographies of some of the owners.
Certainly a great book for anyone interested in the history of the brewing industry in our area. We tried to include a few photos of the Journal.
