    Description

    Lovely Enameled And Jeweled Compact 1880's
    This outstanding French compact has everything going for it!
    The shape is extremely unusual with enameling in shades of blues and greens along with brilliant, multi-faceted prong set sapphire blue paste stones  and round turquoise stones as well.
    The center is a lovely cameo - hard carved, raised and set in prongs.
    A beautiful leaf design encompasses the sides.
    Measuring 2 3/4" x 2", this most unusual compact is a collectors delight.
    Inside there is an original and intact beveled mirror with an insert, I believe done in felt. The number 3 is etched underneath the insert.
    It is marked on the top lip front "Made In France" (see picture).
    The closure is not quite tight and a jeweler could easily repair this by adjusting the front overhanging lip so that it would close entirely.
    The condition, other than what I have just mentioned above, is very fine for an item of its age.
