This is a rare piece of Americana. It is a wood and glass washboard made by the E. Murdock Co in Mass. probably around 1920-1930. What makes it so unusual are the vivid graphics on the front top of farming scenes (maybe Pilgrim farming scenes judging by the hats). In the center, in pretty bright red letters it says" Puritan". On the top rear is written the name of the company in lovely cursive script. There are also some decorations on the frame of the glass. It is very solid and the glass is perfect. Absolutely ready for use!!! In 45 years of collecting I have never seen one like it! Would be great on the wall of a laundry room in a country home. Please forgive my photography. Have no idea why the last 3 pix printed sideways, but wanted to show the details of these illustrations etc)
