    Clarice Jane was an early trademark of compacts made by the Illinois Watch Co. of Elgin, IL. Established in 1880s and the same company as E.A.M. (Elgin American).  In 1963, after a very long labor dispute, the decision was made to close the Elgin American plant and move production to Japan
